One of the most beautiful siege pennies we had in our hands.

The first Polish siege coin. A souvenir of Gdansk's conflict with King Stefan Batory, which led to the siege of the city in 1577.

The issuance of the siege silver coin, for which bullion was obtained, among other things, from melting down all the church silver, is divided into two stages. The first, of which this penny is a representative, involves coins from the mint organized by Caspar Goebel.

This is an early penny, stamped using a cylinder press. Made before Goebel fled the city, after being accused of embezzling bullion.

A rare variety with an asterisk after GEDANENSIS, but this is a secondary issue that is overshadowed by the unparalleled beauty of this type.

This is a mint piece in a celadon patina.

Appreciated with the highest rating - both in NGC and PCGS.
