The rarest two-zloty coin of the Second Republic.
The so-called "letter H", or 1924 two-zloty minted at the Birmingham mint. Named so because of the mint mark, characteristic of this establishment, placed after the date.
Its rarity is due to the Treasury's dissatisfaction with the quality of the coins delivered by this mint. The original contract was for 6 million pieces. After part of the first batch was put into circulation, it turned out that many of the coins had defects. As Jerzy Chalupski points out: it was ordered that the erroneously minted coins be withdrawn from circulation, while at the same time the next batches (nearly 5 million pieces!) were cancelled.
The present piece has a nice appearance. Single surface scratches, but preserved natural luster and good, above-average detail.
