Professor Majewski (born in 1872, died September 5, 1959) - Polish ophthalmologist, professor at the Jagiellonian University. Son of Felix and Amalia, née Danek. He graduated from the Franz Josef Gymnasium in Lviv, studied medicine at Lviv University and Jagiellonian University, where he received his doctorate in all medical sciences in 1897. He worked at the Ophthalmology Clinic in Krakow as an apprentice, assistant and, from 1915, as head of the Department of Ophthalmology and director of the clinic. He received his habilitation in 1902 and was dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University (1920-1922) and a full professor. During the German occupation, he was arrested in the Sonderaktion Krakau and imprisoned in a concentration camp, which affected his health. After the war, he continued his scientific activities until 1947. Co-founder of the Polish Ophthalmological Society and co-organizer of the journal Ophthalmic Clinic. Founder of the Treatment and Educational Institution for Children Sick of Jaglica in Vítkovice, where he acted as honorary head for years. Educator of many generations of ophthalmologists, author of numerous publications. He died in Cracow, buried in Salwator Cemetery. You can read more here.
