Associated with the person of one of the most popular Polish writers of the turn of the 20th century - Henryk Sienkiewicz. Winner of the 1905 Nobel Prize in Literature, awarded to him for "outstanding achievements in the field of epic and rare genius that embodied the spirit of the nation," and not, as is reported in many sources, for "Quo vadis."
The following document, however, is related to that novel.
Receipt, dated March 3, 1906, concerning a bank transfer of the amount of 4593.81 rubles / US $2354.33 / to the account of Henryk Sienkiewicz. The above sum was part of the royalty for the publication of "QUO VADIS" in the United States.
