This is the largest auction of Polish numismatic coins of the post-war period, comparable to the four legendary collections of the pre-war period.
The collection of Henry V. Karolkiewicz is the largest collection of Polish numismatics that has recently "gone under the hammer." The auction took place on December 6, 2000 in New York. The auction featured 3076 numismatic items of Polish and Polish-related origin, a large part of which were "lots", i.e. often several coins appeared under one heading. The catalog is superbly prepared, with a large part of the coins photographed and carefully and professionally described, and the descriptions include not only links to catalogs, but, if possible, additional interesting information related to the described numismatics. The very good quality photos depict rarities that are hard to see elsewhere, such as the 50 ducats of Zg. III Vasa and plenty of other rare thalers, ducats, etc.
