Despite the simple contemporary (postwar) fence binding an interesting piece.
Rich and practical full provenance from 1840 year to Kopicki Family Library contemporary.
Provenance:
- dedication dated August 22, 1840: "In memory of Eustachym Marylski this piece is offered by him", Jozef Sadowski(?).
- stamp Z KSIĘGOZBIORU EUSTACHEGO MARYLSKIEGO W KSIĄŻENICACH, more about the person of E. Marylski e.g. here
- remains in the Marylski family until 1948; entry at the top of the title page "Gift of Mr. Anthony Marylski .... 1948 r.". Under this entry the signature, but with the name illegible to us: Antoni ...(?). The donor is possibly this Antoni Marylski here
- The 1948 gift later passes most likely to the Kopicki family, first Edmund and later Wieslaw, whose two red ownership stamps on the first page.
Block preserved in 17 x 24 cm format; boards uncut, interior generally in good condition.
Just begging for a decent new binding to give us a second life and enjoy owning an attractive piece with history.
