An impressive medal with the bust of Sigismund III, very rarely seen at Polish auctions.
This medal is from the series of kings of Sweden by Arvid Karlsteen (signed AK). The series dated around 1700.
Large diameter, very nice relief, patina of old collection and luster. On the minus side only scratches at the bottom of the obverse.
Interesting due to its pronunciation. On the reverse we see the shield of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but without the coat of arms of the Vasa dynasty, bearing the maxim HOC TECTVS NVDATVR AVITO - with this the clothed of the native is fretted.
