The medal commemorates the election of Augustus II the Strong as king of Poland.
It depicts him as the "Hercules of Saxony" as he strides toward the Polish crown with a whipped hydra at his feet.

On the wound an inscription (different from Raczynski's) with a chronogram of the date 1697 - EN / VICIT DENIQVE DIGNVS CVIVS PRAECINXIT CELSA CORONA CAPVT.D.XV.SEPT- +.
