A rare and interesting medal - depicting Augustus II and one of the noblest chiefs of the pagan Saxons - Widukind.
Like the medal with the family tree, proving the blood connection to the Poles, this medal was meant to carry a clear message - of Augustus' illustrious ancestry. This is also referenced on the edge of the medal, where it reads: REGENS CREANTUR REGIBVS - "Kings are made by kings."
The medal is by Martin Heinrich Omeis (Dresden).
Obverse also known from the prized medal for the recapture of Kamieniec Podolski.
Filigreed on the edge.
Silver, diameter 44 mm, weight 43.66 g.
