A small version (94mm) of a medallion dedicated to the events of 1846, i.e. the peasants' robbery in Galicia led by Jakub Szela, and instigated by the Austrian authorities. The medallion is by Henryk Dmochowski (1810-1863), originally made in Paris, in 1846 but it was then, in noble houses, "in good taste" to have a spittoon with images of the infamous Szela and Metrnich, hence it had numerous transfers made in the country.
