A rare medal commemorating the plague of locusts that passed over Silesia in the 18th century.
An iconographically inconspicuous numismatic medal commemorating a natural disaster that fell on the region. The arrival of locusts from Moravia in August 1748, which ravaged meadows and grasslands. As we read in the chronicles of the time: it lingered even to the thickness of a palm, and gnawed through everything.

Reverse: swarm of locusts flying into the forest. In the rim: KOMMT FELD UND WALD ZUR LAST. In the segment the date 1748.
