An unlisted hybrid in the Jack Strzalkowski catalog.
This is a very rare, and in silver even unheard of, medal dedicated to August Cieszkowski. At auctions it is known with a reverse with a man climbing to the Sphinx, with the additional maxim "Per aspera ad astra." Here with a reverse with a kneeling man drinking water from a rock spring - as on medals dedicated to Heliodor Swiecicki.
The medal with this obverse was minted in two vintages (1928 and 1936), here the execution probably in 1936.
On the obverse there is a dedication to an alumnus - Dr. Jozef Dzerzhinsky.
Medal commemorating August Cieszkowski of the Dołęga coat of arms (economist, activist, philosopher).
By J. Wysocki (signed on the portrait).
Scratches on the reverse.
Despite the passage of years, Mr. J. Strzałkowski's study of the medals of the Second Republic is the reference and most accurate study of the subject. Medals from this period, not included in it, are found only occasionally.
