Here is a coin that starts many ancient Polish collections. A denarius of Bohemian Prince Boleslaw II the Pious.
The numismatic coin was for years considered to be a Bohemian denarius of Boleslaw the Brave thanks to, among others, Marian Gumowski. It was he who, in the pages of Corpus Nummorum Poloniae, presented the thesis that during his year and a half reign in Bohemia, Bolesław minted coins of the type with a bust and the hand of providence. Being an imitation of the denarii of King Etelred II of England at the time.
Mint of Prague, mincmaster Omeriz.
Obverse: hand of providence flanked by signs (alpha and omega). In the rim: DVX BOLEZLAVS X in retrograde script.
Reverse: bust facing right, in front of it a cross. In the rim: OMERIZ - PRAGA - CIZ X in retrograde notation.
