A beautiful piece as an orta of the war period.
The coins minted in Lviv were an issue that resulted from the need to pay for soldiers. It was made not in a professional mint employing experienced mintmasters, but in a hastily organized workshop operated by city craftsmen. Coins were struck using the old method, stamps were cut by hand, in a hurry, so that today we can enjoy a wide variety of coins. However, these factors also translated into poor legibility and poor state of preservation of the pieces circulating in the trade. Usually these coins are severely deficient, struck crookedly or with doubled minting, produced from defective sheet metal.
Pieces like this one are among the very rare. This is also confirmed by the NGC, which gave it its highest and only such grade.
The variety is described by Igor Shatalin with a rarity grade of R5.
Distinguished by the obverse legend ending in 8, the SVHC error on the reverse and the eagles of the second variant (large, with simplified feathers).
Piece from the collection of Dariusz Pączkowski.
