The rarest two-zloty coin of the Second Republic in a beautiful state of preservation.
The so-called "letter H" or two-zloty coin of 1924 minted at the Birmingham mint. It is called so because of the mint mark, characteristic of this establishment, placed after the date.
It is one of the prettiest Hs in our history. With a slightly ruffled side with a reaper, and a beautiful satin side with an eagle.
Its rarity is due to the dissatisfaction of the Treasury regarding the quality of the coins delivered by this mint. The original contract was for 12 million pieces. After part of the first batch was put into circulation, it turned out that many of the coins had defects. As Jerzy Chalupski points out: the erroneously minted coins were ordered to be withdrawn from circulation, while at the same time the next batches were cancelled.
