Type not described in the Parchimowicz-Brzezinski duo's catalog, estimated to be very high in rarity in the Index (R7).
The 1585 crown shilling without the initials GH or NH.
This is a shellac minted at the Olkusz mint, dating from the year when most coins bore second initials in addition to the initials of Treasurer Jan Dulski. The exceptions were very rare tripwires and shekels like this one.
One of these initials belonged to mint steward Nicholas Howl de Kolpino (NH). The interpretation of the latter (GH) is still uncertain. In Iger's catalog, they are described as belonging to minter Georg Hose. The author of a monograph on this mint (J. Reyman) takes a different view, indicating that they may be the signature of the steward, who appeared in documents as"Gubernator monetariae Ilkusiensis."
