One of the rarest varieties of Bydgoszcz trojaks.
The Crown Mint in Bydgoszcz, in the first years of its operation, was very consistent in placing the date on the stamps of trojaks. Unlike the Poznan or Wschowa mints doing it almost always in the last line of the reverse legend, after the abbreviation of the word POLONIAE. There are only three exceptions, among the dozens of stamps used between 1594 and 1597. These are the ones on which the mincemaster placed the full word"POLONIAE," leaving no space for the date. In one he placed it on the sides of the numeral of the denomination, and in two he "squeezed" it between the legend and the initials FS, making mistakes in the process! All three today are very rare.
A variety with the date 95 with the numeral 5 in a mirror image, a royal bust with a smaller head, and the titular initials SIG III.
In this combination of stamps listed at auctions in Poland most likely for the second time.
