A print of the second (intermediate) layer of the portrait of Józef Poniatowski, the main portion of which adorns the 5 zlotych banknotes from 1919 and 1924.
This layer, the most beautiful in terms of craftsmanship and richness of detail, was almost completely “lost” on the 5-złoty notes due to the choice of colors for the individual layers in the final issue.
A work by the engraver Eugene Gasperini, known as“Gaspe,” who worked in France.
A variant without the artist’s signature.
Black color scheme.
One of the unique proof prints documenting the various stages of the creation of the first five-złoty banknote of the Second Polish Republic.
Dimensions: 155 x 170 mm (including the print: 85 x 85 mm).
