A superb example of its kind.
A 100-złoty note from the first Series A, with a low four-digit serial number [5739], a beautiful watermark, and in very good condition.
This is the highest denomination of the Insurrection series that is realistically attainable (the 500 zł and 1,000 zł denominations are extremely rare and command very high prices). However, even the 100 zlotych note is now becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and is a sought-after denomination.
This specimen features a striking, full coat-of-arms watermark in the paper. According to Robert Jadrych’s study (Numizmatyk Krakowski 5–6), this type of watermark appeared on only 1 out of every 8 banknotes printed from a sheet.
The obverse is in very good condition. There is a faint, darker discoloration (a former water stain) in the upper-left corner and a barely noticeable mark at the tip of the upper-right corner. Viewed from the reverse, the ridge of the central horizontal fold is visible—with no wear and almost no whitening. Additionally, at the bottom (approx. 1.5 cm from the lower edge), there is a horizontal production crease. Otherwise, no issues.
A very attractive banknote.
