A coin with beautiful detail, though it has been mechanically polished.
The 5 zlotych denomination had the lowest mintage of all coins in this issue, at just 22,500—whereas the 2-złoty coins had 7.5 times as many, and the 3-złoty coins nearly 50 times as many! The mintage was low, especially since, after the uprising’s defeat, the tsarist government attempted to withdraw these coins from circulation. Many of them survived only because they served as mementos of the national uprising and, as such, were kept in homes.
A variant with a fractional line on the rim of the reverse.
