The second of the very rare numismatic coins commemorating the coronation of Augustus II.
The beginning of August II's reign was commemorated on numerous medals and coins. Among the latter were mainly various fractions of ducats. Silver coins are among the very rare today, as there were only two. Both were made by the Dresden mint, signed by its mincmaster Jan Koch (initials IK and the mint mark of crossed arrows). They were distinguished by the titulature proclaiming the event (By God's Grace August II crowned King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania on September 15, 1697), and the reverse depicting a sword and scepter passing through the royal crown.
The present one is the higher of the two denominations.
It is the first time in our offer.
Silver, diameter 30 mm, weight 7.05 g.
