A few scratches to the left of the crown and next to the letter A in the king’s name. Localized surface corrosion; otherwise, it is in beautiful, mint condition.
A rare variety with an abbreviated form of the obverse legend: REG instead of REGIS.
This is the first issue of Alexander Jagiellon’s crown half-grosz coins. It is the first type featuring the abbreviated form “REG” of the word “REGIS.” This issue was preceded by very rare half-grosz coins in which flower-shaped rosettes appear in place of the initial cross. This issue is characterized by a high silver content, as confirmed by a series of spectrometric analyses. — Information based on research by W. Borowski and M. Poznański.
