A beautiful, natural piece, whose additional appeal lies in its provenance—from the collection of Henryk Karolkiewicz.
One of the first 5-złoty coins of the Kingdom of Poland, this issue is very difficult to find in such condition. These coins were minted before the coin’s rim was raised, a feature that naturally protected the relief of the portrait or the eagle; consequently, the relief on this type of coin wore down much more quickly in circulation.
An early type of the second issue of five-złoty coins from the period of the Partitions.
On the obverse, a smaller bust of the tsar (a younger version). On the reverse, an eagle with a shorter tail and a larger crown above it.
This type is consistent with the 1816 issue.
One of the most beautiful specimens we have ever had in our collection. It has a collector’s patina with a beautiful luster, especially on the reverse.
