A rare, high-denomination commemorative coin marking the death of Queen Christina.
It is a large silver coin in mint condition, with the background retaining its distinct mint luster.
It has been awarded the highest and only such grade in the NGC grading system (Top Pop).
It is part of a series of numismatic coins struck in 1727 to commemorate the death of Augustus II’s wife, Christina Eberhardine of Hohenzollern. At that time, the Dresden Mint produced denominations ranging from two groschen to a ducat, all united by a beautiful, meaningful design: a cypress tree between two pyramids of hearts, accompanied by the inscription “QUOT FOLIA TOT CORDA LVGENT (as many leaves as there are hearts that weep).
Today, only one of these denominations—the two-groschen—appears regularly at auctions in Poland; the others are rare and difficult to obtain, especially in such beautiful condition as this one.
