A striking, high-denomination coin from the Three Brothers mint.
The taler commemorating the joint reign of George, Louis, and Christian is a prized numismatic item that rarely appears on the market and is highly valued by collectors, regardless of the year of issue.
This particular specimen stands out due to the depiction of the brothers, which appears only on some of the thalers from this specific year. This design was introduced in 1656 and, later that same year, replaced with half-length portraits that were significantly less distinguished (we featured a thaler of the second type in Auction 18, Lot 3227). Minted exclusively with this single obverse die.
A very nice, natural, collector’s piece. No damage. With a charming patina from a historic collection.
Silver, diameter 45 mm, weight 28.41 g
