A nice coin.
A variant featuring a cross-section of a crown above the shaded coat-of-arms shield.
By a resolution of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Kraków was established as a free city with the right to mint its own coins. However, it did not exercise this right until 1834, when the Polish eagle on the coins in circulation at that time was replaced with the Russian eagle. These coins were minted in Vienna, modeled after the old coin of the Kingdom of Poland, but featuring the city’s coat of arms.
