A very rare set documenting the development of the Warsaw Mint.
Here are two coins widely recognized as trial strikes.
According to accounts from individuals associated with the Mint, they were produced during the official launch of production on Żelazna Street, as part of tests to verify the proper calibration of the new machines.
The first, marked with the letter X, is a “trial” of the first one-grosz coin. The second, marked with the letter Y, has a diameter corresponding to the commemorative two-złoty Nordic Gold coins introduced in 1996.
The reverse side bears the Mint’s mark.
Minted with a characteristic twist of the dies.
Available in our selection for the first time.
Brass / NG, diameters 15.5 and 27 mm, weights 1.65 and 8.21 g
