A very rare item from the era of the Free City of Gdańsk.
It is a die (matrix) for one of a series of stamps related to the Winterhilfe (Winter Relief) campaign—a German initiative associated with the NSDAP (swastika in the corner). The stamp’s face value was 10 pfennigs, and 5 pfennigs constituted the Winterhilfe surcharge.
An interesting item on the fringes of paper currency.
