Three issues of banknotes were made in Breslau in the 19th century. The first, dated June 1848, and the next, dated July 1863, were thaler issues. The third and final one was issued after the unification of Germany and is dated July 1, 1874. It was tailored to the Empire's new monetary system and denominated in marks. Only two denominations were issued in it: 100 and 1,000 marks.
The item on offer is a proof print of the reverse of the 100-mark banknote. Its layout is based directly on the earlier 1863 issue. The printing of the reverse is fully completed, only erased with perforations in the place intended for signatures or other annotations of the issuer.
Piece preserved in beautiful condition, with a PMG grade of 64.
