The Treasury of Liberated Poland was established by the émigré Polish Central Committee. This Committee had its headquarters in London after the fall of the Spring of Nations.
As part of the collection of funds to finance the activities of the Centralization, which headed the Democratic Polish Society (for more on the TDP, see Wikipedia), bricks were issued in 1853. Their interest rate was 5%, and their additional guarantor was the European Central Committee. On its behalf, the issue was signed by Giuseppe Mazzini, whose signature can be seen on the left. The denominations issued were: 10, 25, 50 and 100 zlotys.
Printing was carried out on paper that was delicate and thin, but of good quality in reception. Despite this, however, pieces encountered today often have tears, cracks or losses at the edges. This is probably due to the acidity of the paper, as well as the fact that the tickets are quite large in format (about 116x164 mm)
The present piece preserved above average. Issuing folded in half (half of the stamp reflected) and additional vertical fold. A small loss of the upper corner and former discreet underpainting of small tears in the margins. In the upper margin a trace of pasting from the reverse side.
Presentation good.
The issue is sporadically found in the trade. In our offer its representatives noted only three times.
An interesting and rare issue from the 19th century.
