Probably the most significant of the "Four Great Pre-War Collections," and certainly with the best published, most beautiful catalog of it.
The collection of Zygmunt Chelminski of Szarawka was auctioned in 1904. Its catalog is now a great numismatic read, and in its original edition it gives incredible pleasure in studying its contents.
Edition on standard paper, with beautiful plates.
Comes loose with the original list of outturn prices - this indicates that the catalog was bound probably before the auction, and certainly before the list of outturn prices was received.
The binding is very nice. Nice marbling combined with stained cloth spine. Binding cracked at the edge of the spine, and more pronounced loosening of the typesetting at the joining of the texts to the plates. Other than that, the state of preservation without remarks, overall the interior preserved beautifully!
A very nice piece of a rare and highly regarded catalog.
Definitely recommended.
Pages 136 + 17 plates, format: 21.5 x 27.5 cm.
