Although this word does not quite fit numismatics, it perfectly captures the essence of this catalog in it. The auction catalog of Mathy's collection can confidently be called iconic.
This is one of the first large auctions of Polish numismatic collections for which an individual catalog was developed. The collection was significant and large. It contained items starting from Casimir the Great to the 19th century. 2756 items were auctioned. The catalog in text form with one table containing drawings of several offered values.
The auction began on August 2, 1858 in Gdansk.
