Piece Ex. Marciniak A12/1771 currently on display much cheaper due to the sale of the numismatic library, due to the change of residence of the collector.
The second of Kazimierz Stronczynski's monumental works. The first, "Piast Money...", a precursor in the field of Polish medieval money, was published in print in 1847. After nearly 40 years, a second, more detailed and expanded study was published - "Dawne monety polskie...".
Although more than 140 years have passed since then (edition 1883-85), this work is still an important, useful and reference publication (quoted richly by us at Auction 10 during the sale of an excellent collection of medieval coins).
Although new conclusions and hypotheses are emerging from current research, many are often based on or revisit Stronczynski's findings.
