The first vintage of August III's Torun shekels in an unprecedented state of preservation for them.
The coin appreciated with a very rare MS-type note for this denomination, as confirmed by the grading companies' censuses. At NGC and PCGS, only 2 1760 shekels with rosettes received the MS note. Here is one of them.
In 1758 the Russian army enters Torun and stays there until October 1762. However, this does not prevent the city from resuming regular monetary issuance after a break of almost 100 years. Following the example of Gdansk, on the basis of former privileges, including in connection with the Prussian sub-value coinage flooding the country, Toruń reopens its mint in 1760. It begins its issuance with shekels.
A variant with the date on the sides of the monogram and rosettes on the sides of the city's coat of arms.
Variant with the broad numeral 3 in the royal monogram.
