The last shilling from a very nice collection of city coins of August III offered in this auction.
This is the last Torun shilling of this ruler, minted in the year of his death. It was during a tumultuous period for the city, as Prussian troops entered the city on February 15, 1763 under a peace treaty, and did not leave until July.
A variation with stars on the sides of the city's coat of arms.
