Lot description
Grade: XF
Reference: Kopicki 157 (R2), Stronczyński 50

Distinctive beauty of the rare "two saints" denarius art. Fully legible both sides of the coin. Beautiful patina and presence.

Here is one of the most interesting issues of Malopolska. The denarius discovered in the Pełczysk treasure, which is an iconographically worthy successor to the small "beautiful style" brakteates from the so-called Cracow treasure. It is a coin that shows us the two saints, Stanislaw and Adalbert, in an iconography full of historical references, including the symbolism of martyrdom, the scene of stoning, or rising from the grave. The iconography, which wasdescribedin its full glory ongndm.pl/knowledge by Witold Garbaczewski.

A rare numismatic piece, especially in such states.

Ex. Dmitry Markov (1993).

Silver, diameter 16 mm, weight 0.25 g.
