A distinctive denarius with a depiction of a helmet, which for years was considered an issue of Wladyslaw Lokietek. At present, in light of the findings of Boris Paszkiewicz and a broader entry by Krystian Browary on the Numismatic Portal, where the occurrence in treasures is presented, among other things, it should be considered a coin of Casimir III.
It is a varied type, the two basic varieties of which differ in the presence of obverse inscriptions. The present one is a variety with a legend on both sides.
Rare and nicely preserved. With a deeply and carefully minted helmet.
Obverse: helmet with a plume of five feathers, in the rim an inscription.
Reverse: eagle facing right, with outspread wings, in the rim the inscription P[OL]ONIE.
