Cleopatra VII, the last queen of Hellenistic Egypt, is one of the most, if not the most, recognizable woman of ancient times. Known for her incredible beauty and intellect, she charmed two great commanders of the Roman Republic period - Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. After losing the Battle of Acacia; together with her second husband, she committed suicide, according to legend by allowing herself to be bitten by a venomous snake.
