The first ort in the history of Poznan.
A very rare issue with a portrait similar to the Bydgoszcz orts.
The mint of Poznan in the time of Jan Kazimierz is opened by Andrzej Tymf, whose initials appear on the coins until 1659. For the issuance of the first orts he orders stamps from the Gdansk medallicist Jan Höhn, which we write about in more detail on the pages of grupamarciniak.pl. They are characterized by a portrait of the king wearing a laurel wreath and an ornate robe.
An issue of this type is limited to just one pair of stamps, and later this year the mint hires its own engraver. He introduces a new royal portrait (of the ruler wearing a crown), which is minted between 1651 and 1658.
Early orts with Höhn's portrait are found very rarely at auction.
