A very rare coin typologically, absent from many advanced collections of John II Casimir minting.
Crown pennies from the reign of King John are a denomination minted for circulation only in 1650. It was restored with the passage of a resolution that year lifting the ban on small coinage, but was supplanted by the large-scale minted two-grosze.
They are known to be of three types. All rated at the highest degrees of rarity (R7-R8). The first with two Wieniawa coats of arms, the second without the Vasa coat of arms and the third with the Wieniawa coat of arms only on the reverse. And representative of the latter type is the present penny.
An additional advantage of this piece is its state of preservation and good minting quality. This is the nicest representative of this denomination that we had on offer.
