A beautiful Hungarian gold coin of the later King of Poland - Louis of Hungary.
Ludwik of the Andegawen family was the son of the King of Hungary (Charles Robert) and Elisabeth Lokietkówna - daughter of Ladislaus Lokietek. It was due to his mother's roots that, under pacts between the two countries, he was granted the right to succeed to the throne in the event of the heirless death of Casimir the Great. This occurred on November 17, 1370, when he was crowned Polish king at Wawel Cathedral. After his death in 1382, his daughter Jadwiga assumed the Polish throne.
One of the most beautiful goldgulden of this ruler we have seen at auctions. Sharp, with luster. With a beauty confirmed by the MS64 note.
Early type minted between 1342 and 1353, Buda mint. Lóránd mint.
Obverse: lily, around +LODOVICI REX.
Reverse: saint John standing in front, S. IOHANNES B (crown).
