Very rare brakteat dated to the first half of the 13th century (tentatively 2nd quarter).
Representation: half-stance in front, with sword in right hand and pennant in left hand.
A brakteat with an iconography well known from Piast coins. With a representation of the ruler with a sword, insignia of power, and a pennant. Such a set of attributes is known, among others, from the brakteates of Mieszko III (Kopicki 108) or an unspecified Piast prince (Kopicki 130). Unlike them, however, the ruler holds the sword vertically, in a bent hand, at his side (leaning against his shoulder?). In addition, in contrast to the Herbraj issues of Mieszko, the figure does not wear a helmet.
Metrology and iconography point in the case of this coin to a group of brakteates from the Cracow treasury. An iconographic analogy can be found, among others, on the illustrated brakteate by the Paszkiewicz-Haczewska duo (No. 4).
Silver, diameter 13.5-15 mm, weight 0.11 g.
