The presence in this collection of both the 1792 thaler and the 1792 half-taler is an achievement that only a few outstanding pre-war collections could boast. An achievement that was not realized by at least Henryk Karolkiewicz.
It is one of the rarest circulation coins in the entire minting of King Stanislaw Augustus.
An uncommonly traded semi-tallar from 1792.
A yearling that appeared at auction in Poland most likely only 1 time, in 2011 (sold for 138,000 zlotys at the 2nd ANPN auction).
Minted in an edition of only 186 pieces!
The rarest vintage, but also their type of semi-taller. The only one with the marking of the Warsaw Mint (M.V. - Monetaria Varsoviensis) at the bottom of the reverse.
Thalers and semi-talars from 1792 are the great absentees of many advanced coin collections of Stanislaw Augustus. They are sought after regardless of their state of preservation. All the more reason to appreciate the class of Kazimierz Zbichorski's collection, in which both of these denominations were in very nice, natural states of preservation.
The present half-taler is a level 2 state-of-preservation coin. Healthy, with luster and very good relief. With a characteristic stamp crack under the king's eye, visible, among other pieces, on the Chominski piece sold in 1932.
First time in our offer. First time in over a decade at auction in Poland.
