The last available semi-talar of the Republic in beautiful state of preservation.
The 1788 vintage is one of the most popular semi-talars of this ruler, but a select piece in mint condition like this one is really hard to come by. Gentle rubbing on the obverse, otherwise unqualified. Preserved mint luster. Very nice relief.
A distinctive vintage minted after a hiatus of several years in the issuance of this denomination, already after the reduction of the silver proof on these coins (from 20 Cologne fine, to 20 7/8 Cologne half-talers). A type distinguished by the new typeface of the royal portrait and the coat of arms shield (straight, instead of oval). Being the last semi-talar with the initials of Efraim Brenna.
Variety with a wide ribbon.
