One of the rarest thalers of King Stanislaw Augustus and one of the ornaments of this collection.
Thaler 1792 in beautiful state of preservation.
The last large eight-oz. thaler of the time of Royal Poland minted in a scarce mintage of 339 pieces (sic!). The lowest among all thaler coins of this ruler, where very rare today vintages like 1769 or 1782 were minted in a mintage several times higher. One pair of stamps was used to strike it, and the one from the reverse was a revised 1788 stamp.
This is the most difficult type of SAP thaler to acquire, as the others, despite some very rare vintages, have their counterparts in more popular years. This is the only thaler with the Warsaw Mint (M.V. - Monetaria Varsoviensis) marking at the bottom of the reverse.
A beautiful, sound, uncirculated piece. Deeply minted. In a prized, celadon patina.
