Rarely seen in antiquarian circulation, an early vintage thaler of King Stanislaw Augustus.
Minted in an edition of ~10,000 pieces, the year used two pairs of stamps. The present one is a variety with the royal ribbon pointing to the letter I, and the reverse with an oak branch without acorns (undescribed by Plage, among others).
On the rim the maxim FIDEI PUBLICAE PIGNUS ("faith is a public guarantee").
A nice, decidedly above-average preserved early thaler.
