A very rare numismatic coin - a portrait penny from 1614.
The coin so far considered to be an issue of the Bydgoszcz mint, but in the context of the subsequent findings presented at Marcin Żmudzin's lecture (coming soon on Youtube Marciniak TV), most likely made at the Malbork mint.
The type is embossed on a rolling mill, stylistically different from the pennies of that year struck with stamps.
The present rarity of the 1614 grosz coincides with both the introduction of half-tracks, clearly more economically advantageous for minting coins, but also the closure of the Malbork mint. In April 1614, the King's Universale edictum was issued, ordering the withdrawal and cancellation of Malbork's fine coinage, which had appeared in circulation in 1613. In the same year as the shillings and pennies pressed on rolling mills.
A very nice piece for this very rare vintage. Relief with almost no traces of circulation, but quite common for these coins, inferior stamping quality. Uneven patina.
