The last vintage of Danzig ducats of Stefan Batory, minted in the year of the king's death.

Constituting the penultimate ducat of this ruler.

Type with bust of the king in armor decorated with a lion's head, minted in 1584-1587.

A variety with an inner obverse band of cord, the other of pearls and beads.

A nicely presented piece, only with cuts on the portrait and lions. With preserved natural luster of the background.

Ex. Karl Stephens (1989) and Sobiech Collection.

Gold, diameter 21.5 mm, weight 3.48 g.

Obverse: bust of the king to the right, in armor, in double encirclement, legend around:
STEPHANVS D G REX POL D PRVS.

Reverse: shield of the coat of arms of Gdansk, held by two lions, in pearl border legend:
MONE NO AVR CIVI GEDANENSIS 86, mint mark.
