One of the most beautiful sub-treasury coins we have seen in the trade.
Numismatic with sharp, "fleshy" relief, even patina and clear with surface gloss. In an unprecedented state of preservation, especially for sub-treasurers - coins known from individual pieces.
The present piece is one of a series of sub-treasuries of Dmitry Chalecki - then Grand Treasurer of Lithuania. It dates from 1591, with the reverse decorated with poppy sprigs and flowers and the maxim"the blessing of the Lord makes rich", so beautifully corresponding to the purpose of these numismats - counting bills.
Additionally interesting due to the presence of the coat of arms of Prussia and the initials IS. One of the persons attributed to them is the later head of the Vilna mint - Jan Isajkowski - which the author of the study "Coats of arms of officials..." disagrees with. Zbigniew Kiełb.
Obverse: in a pearl rim, decorated with labrys, a four-field shield with coats of arms: Chalecki, Rola, Korczak and coat of arms unknown, in the jewel a winged arrow, at the edge a pearl border, legend in the rim: DEME CHAL DE CHALCE TES T NO M D L.
Reverse: in the rim with 37 small double shields, in the field of four lines an inscription: 15 . 91 / BENEDIC / DOMINI DI / VITES FACI (blessings of the Lord make rich), below it an ornamental floral motif, and below it I (coat of arms of Prussia) S.
