A rare and valued penny of the last master of the Teutonic Order.
A very nice-looking coin, but with internal corrosion, "deaf" and cracked with local delamination. A clear mint mirror is preserved in the background.
A so-called Tippelgroschen, or penny with a reduced silver rate, which was related to the monastic treasury's devastating warfare (against Poland). The coin was minted in the year of the introduction of war-issued pennies - in the form of low-silver clips minted in 1520-1521.
Above the grand master's shield two dots, whence the name "Tippelgroschen".
An interesting and rare item.
